Baked Apple Bites 🍎

This recipe was really yummy, it was tart while also being naturally sweet from the apple and cinnamon. The flaxseed added a nutritious punch too! This recipe is Gluten Free, Dairy Free, and Nut Free. This recipe made a full tray of baked apple bites 😋

For reference, our son is currently 11 months old (and has two bottom teeth) and he was able to chew these just fine!

See our IG post for more details on how this came out! :)

Ingredients (Makes 8 servings)

  • ½ cup ground flaxseed

  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon

  • ⅛ teaspoon of ground ginger (put less if you’re not a fan of ginger)

  • 2 apples, peeled, cored, and cut into ½ inch pieces

    • Note: We definitely could have cut ours thinner. Ours were on the thicker side so we needed to bake ours for longer.

  • 2 eggs, beaten

Instructions

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 375 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

  2. Mix flaxseed, cinnamon, and ginger in a bowl (“dry ingredients”)

  3. Coat the apple pieces in egg, then dip them in the dry ingredients mix

    • Note: Keep the coating light. We coated ours too thick and it made the outside its own separate layer that could be peeled off, and it was a bit chewy (not in a good way).

  4. Lay them out on the baking sheet and bake them until soft, for 20-25 minutes (Since our pieces were thicker we needed to bake ours for about 30 minutes to be soft enough). Store them in the fridge for 3 days or in the freezer for up to a month!
