Baked Falafel and Hummus for Babies: Healthy, Protein-Packed Meal Idea
Our son loved these! The consistency of this falafel is denser and softer than the usual fried one, making it easier for babies to chew with their gums or mini teeth hehe.
See our IG post for more details on how this came out :)
Baked Falafel
Ingredients
This made a whole tray of falafel - we were able to freeze a bunch and our son ate them over the next 2 weeks!
1 cup canned chickpeas, drained
1/2 onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 cup whole wheat flour or oat flour
1 tablespoon olive oil
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Combine the chickpeas, onion, parsley, cumin, garlic powder, and flour in a blender or food processor and process until smooth
Form the mixture into 1/2 inch balls. Place them on the prepared baking sheet and gently flatten them with a spoon
Brush the balls with olive oil. Bake until browned, about 10 minutes per side. Store any unoffered falafel in the fridge for up to 3 days or in the freezer for a month.
